Bringing structural biology to AI: exploring the PDBe MCP servers
Date: 9 September 2026 @ 09:00 - 17:00
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how researchers discover and interact with scientific data. In this webinar, we will introduce the PDBe MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and demonstrate how they enable AI assistants and applications to securely access and interact with structural biology data from the Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe). Rather than focusing on implementation details, the session will explore the broader vision behind MCP, the capabilities offered by the PDBe MCP servers, and how they can help researchers, developers, and bioinformatics communities build more intuitive, AI-powered scientific workflows.
The webinar will also include practical examples of how these tools can make structural biology data more accessible and actionable. The PDBe MCP servers provide access to PDBe APIs, PDBe Graph data, and search capabilities through the Model Context Protocol, allowing AI tools to work directly with structural biology resources.
