DESCRIPTION:# Overview\nGalaxy is an open\, web-based platform for accessib
le\, reproducible\, and transparent computational biomedical research. Gal
axy gives you access to thousands of tools. For example\, you can run a co
mplete NGS analysis from fastq files to publication-ready figures using on
ly your web browser.\n\nThis course will give a general introduction on th
 e galaxy web-page structure\, how to import data\, run tools\, and share a
nalyses. Participants will run a whole NGS analysis using an RNA-seq datas
et as an example.\n\n# Audience\nThis course is targeted to any life scien
tist who wants to learn more about the web-based [Galaxy platform](https:/
/usegalaxy.eu/) and would like to discover its potential to analyze NGS d
 ata.\n\n# Learning objectives\nAfter the course\, participants should be a
ble to use a public Galaxy server for their research and be able to:\n\n*
reproduce and share an analysis in Galaxy\n* run tools such as FastQC\, cu
tadapt\, STAR\n* understand their outputs\n* interpret the biological resu
lts obtained with Galaxy\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencie
s\nNo command line experience or programming knowledge is required. Howeve
r\, familiarity with NGS and genomic data is highly recommended.\n\n#####
Technical\nThe participants need to come with their Wi-Fi enabled laptop w
ith Firefox\, Chrome\, or Safari web browser installed. There will be acce
ss to the eduroam (and guest) networks.\n\n# Application\n\n\nRegistration

CET. Precise information will be provided to the participants in due time
.\n\n# Additional information\nTrainers: Lucille Delisle (EPFL) and Hans-
Rudolf Hotz (FMI\, SIB)\n\nCoordination: Monique Zahn\, SIB Training group
.\n\nWe will recommend 0.25 ECTS credits for this course (given a passed e
xam at the end of the course).\n\nYou are welcome to register to the SIB c
ourses mailing list to be informed of all future courses and workshops\, a
