DESCRIPTION:Attendance is free of charge\; however\, registration is mandat
 ory.\n\n# Overview\n\n[Bgee](https://www.bgee.org) is a curated database o
f gene expression in animals\, including model species such as human\, mou
 se or drosophila\, and others such as livestock\, primates\, or fishes\, c
overing biodiversity as well as applied research. Single-cell and bulk dat
a are reprocessed\, carefully curated\, and standardized. They can be retr
ieved through web and R tools\, and programmatic access. Bgee also include
s analysis tools leveraging these data\, such as [TopAnat](https://www.bge
 e.org/analysis/top-anat) or [Expression Comparison](https://www.bgee.org/a
nalysis/expr-comparison).\n\nThis 0.5-day course is taught by the develope
rs of Bgee. In this course\, they will present their curated and pre-analy
sed gene expression data\, and explain how to use these data and the relat
ed tools.\n\n# Audience\n\nThis course is designed for PhD students\, post
doctoral and other researchers in the life sciences from both academia and
industry who need to retrieve curated gene expression\, obtain expression
-based knowledge on genes of interest\, or compare expression between gene
s and between species.\n\n# Learning outcomes\n\nAt the end of the course\
, the participants should be able to:\n\n* **Find** active genes from bulk
or single-cell RNA-Seq.\n* **Describe** information on expression that Bg
ee can provide in model and non-model species.\n* **Understand** the added
value of Bgee data curation and analysis.\n* **List** the Bgee web tools
and state their utility to research.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n# Prerequisites\
n \n\nThis course is designed for beginners\; no familiarity with Bgee is
required. Participants should have basic knowledge of the expression of ge
nes and the technologies used to detect gene expression. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#
 ## ***Technical***\nYou will need access to a computer. All the suggested
resources are available without you having to install or code anything.\n\
