DESCRIPTION:The recordings of this course are available on YouTube:\n[Gene
 Expression made Useful Easily](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxHn
 vy2HZSYnd5073j72JgmziQQlHcdRl)\n\n# Overview\n\nThis is a course on bioinf
ormatics resources taught by the developers of the resources. [Bgee](https
://bgee.org/) is a curated database of gene expression in animals\, includ
ing model species such as human\, mouse or drosophila\, and others such as
livestock\, primates\, or fishes. Bgee integrates information from single
-cell and bulk RNA-seq\, microarrays\, and in situ hybridization. These da
ta are available through a web interface\, an R package\, a SPARQL endpoin
t\, and a JSON API. Bgee also includes tools which use these data\, such a
s TopAnat or Expression Comparison\, and allows integration with users' ow
n data through another R package. In this course\, we will present the cur
ated and pre-analysed gene expression data in Bgee. \n\n# Audience\n\nThis
course is addressed to life scientists who need to retrieve curated gene
expression\, obtain expression-based knowledge on genes of interest\, or c
ompare expression between genes and between species.\n\n# Learning outcome
s\n\nAt the end of the course\, the participants are expected to:\n\n* Lea
rn how to detect active genes from bulk or single-cell RNA-Seq\n* Learn wh
at information on expression Bgee can provide\n* Understand the added valu
e of Bgee data curation and analysis\n* Learn about Bgee webtools and thei
 r utility to research\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n# Prerequisites\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
