DESCRIPTION:Visualising a protein sequence alongside the multitude of publi
cly available annotations provides valuable insights and perspectives for
biological research. These tools become significantly more powerful when y
ou can seamlessly incorporate your own data\, providing crucial context fo
r the specific findings your lab or group produces. This hackathon is dedic
ated to making this happen. We will focus on integrating your custom datas
ets into the newly refactored ProtVista library\, made possible through a
Research Software Maintenance Fund grant\, empowering you to visualise you
r protein data. To get you moving quickly\, we are providing a ProtVista S
tarter Kit designed specifically to help developers\, bioinformaticians\,
and scientists bring their data to the platform. Our core developers will
work hands-on with you and should any limitations or gaps appear in the cu
rrent ProtVista API during your integration process\, we will collaborate
with you on the spot to engineer solutions.Beyond integrating your own wor
k\, we invite you to make direct contributions to the ProtVista codebase\,
ensuring future researchers and consumers can more easily map and visuali
se their protein data. By putting our new configuration-driven architectur
e to work against your unique datasets\, we will collaboratively uncover a
nd address key areas for improvement. Through this process\, we aim to ide
ntify and resolve software bugs exposed by novel data structures\, brainst
orm and prototype new features driven by real-world use cases\, and pinpoi
nt specific opportunities to clarify our documentation based directly on y
 our onboarding experience.
